For nearly 40 years, the Vermont Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health has stood alongside families impacted by or at risk of experiencing mental health and/or substance use concerns. We have offered family peer support, shared resources, built connections, and advocated for the robust services families feel would best serve the well-being of their children, youth, and those transitioning to adulthood (ages 0–22 and beyond).
Much has changed over four decades. The systems serving children and families have evolved. Communities and families face new challenges. Families are navigating increasingly complex circumstances. The need for meaningful connections and peer support remains as important as ever, if not more so.
As the needs of families and systems of care evolve, so are we!
Approaching our 40th anniversary, we want to honor the families, relationships, and experiences that have shaped our journey while looking ahead to new opportunities to connect, collaborate, and strengthen support for Vermont families traveling rough and rocky roads.
As part of that, we’re refreshing our website to better reflect who we are today, what we remain concerned about, where we’re headed and updated resources for families. While that is taking shape, our family peer support and systems advocacy continues.
We remain here for Vermont families, their loved ones, and the community partners who share our commitment to their well-being.
Historically, we began as a group of families who identified a need and banded together to improve the circumstance. That has and will not ever change! Stay tuned!
